Is cruise eSIM better than ship WiFi?

In most cases, yes. Ship WiFi typically costs $20–$26 per device per day, runs on shared satellite bandwidth, and slows down significantly when hundreds of passengers are online simultaneously. Voye’s cruise eSIM starts from $17 for a full day with dedicated mobile data — faster, more affordable, and with no per-device upsell.

How much data do I need for a cruise?

This depends on how you plan to use your phone at sea. For basic messaging apps (WhatsApp, iMessage), emails, and light browsing, 1GB for a 7-day cruise is often sufficient. If you plan to use social media, stream music, share photos, or make video calls, we recommend 3GB–5GB for a week-long voyage. For longer cruises or heavier usage, the 10GB/30-day plan offers the best value.

Does eSIM work on Royal Caribbean ships?

Yes, Voye Global works on all major Royal Caribbean ships including Icon of the Seas, Utopia of the Seas, Wonder of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas, and 25+ more vessels. Simply select a cruise plan before boarding, scan your QR code, and you’re connected. No physical SIM swap needed.

Is cruise eSIM better than roaming?

Almost always, yes. International roaming charges from your home carrier can run $10–$15 per day or more, often with throttled speeds and surprise overage fees. Voye’s cruise eSIM gives you a fixed, transparent price — starting at $17 for 0.5GB — with no hidden charges, no contract, and coverage across 220+ ships and their port stops.
